K.J. Williams tweeted not too long ago that he was reopening his recruitment after he started at Milford Academy. This was a surprise to some Syracuse fans who were expecting him to re-pledge to the Orange after being part of their 2014 class.
Syracuse is not giving up on the former four-star wide receiver. They are back in the mix for Williams and he was on campus Saturday for a visit.
"It was good," Williams said via text. He has, thus far, declined to do an interview or discuss the trip further. CuseNation.com reached out to his uncle, Ace Long, to get some more details of the visit.
"I think he had a good time with his teammates at the game," Long said. "I know he enjoyed his conversation with coach Shafer."
Williams' twitter account still says "Syracuse commit" in the bio. While that appears to be a good sign for the Orange, his uncle says the focus right now is not on recruiting.
"That's something we don't talk about," Long said. "We only talk about taking care of the business he needs to right now. I know it sounds cliche'. We just want to keep his eyes on the prize to stay focused on what he controls right now."
Long added that the visit "definitely" went well. He is hoping that Williams ultimately picks the Orange for a second time.
"Being a little bias, I hope so," Long said. "But that's something that'll take care of itself when the time comes."
Syracuse could take as many as two wide receivers in the 2015 class. Williams is a priority for the Orange and they hope he ends up as one of those players.
