Orange Madness Slated for Oct. 17th

Syracuse basketball will hold their annual season kickoff event on October 17th.

Syracuse basketball officially announced that Orange Madness will take place on Friday, October 17th at 8pm in the Carrier Dome. That has long been rumored as the day for the event, including recruits informing of the specified date.

Tickets for the event are available to the general public for $5. They can be purchased at, at the Carrier Dome Box office or at a local Tops location.

All students will be able to attend the game for free by showing their Syracuse University or ESF Student ID at Gate E.

Here is a schedule of events to take place at Orange Madness according to a release from Syracuse Athletics:

• Scrimmages by both the men’s and women’s squads
• An SU “Legends” scrimmage featuring Derrick Coleman, Lawrence Moten, John Wallace, Pearl Washington and others
• A dunk contest
• A 3-point shooting contest
• A live DJ and other entertainment
• The Pride of the Orange – New York’s College Band
• 2014-15 Team Schedule Posters
• Special Opportunities for Season Ticket Holders
• First-ever “Cuse Selfie Stations,” in which fans can take their picture with their favorite players, coaches and legends

The event will also be a big recruiting tool, with commits Moustapha Diagne, Malachi Richardson, Matthew Moyer (2016) and target Jordan Tucker (2017) among those expected to be in attendance.

Doors will open for Orange Madness at 7:00pm with the festivities starting at 8:00pm. Free parking is available in the Stadium West lots at the Carrier Dome and at Manley Field House. A shuttle service will run from Manley to the Dome starting at 5:30pm, similar to game days.
