After the NCAA sanctions against Syracuse were released on Friday, much of the attention turned towards the recruiting impact of said ruling. CuseNation.com confirmed that the four signed players in the 2015 class remain fully committed to the Orange. But what about 2016 verbal pledge Matthew Moyer?
In a phone call with the 4-star forward, Moyer said he spoke with Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim Friday evening. During the conversation, Boeheim ensured Moyer that a scholarship was reserved for him. As a result, Moyer says he remains fully committed to the Orange.
Syracuse has been punished with a scholarship reduction starting in the 2016 cycle of three per year for four years. Naturally, that significantly impacts Moyer's class. However, he feels very comfortable with his decision after speaking with coach Boeheim.
Moyer's commitment is more good recruiting news for Syracuse, along with the aforementioned 2015 class sticking with their decision and 5-star Tyus Battle also saying the news does not impact his interest.
