Funderburk Transferring

Senior wide receiver Quinta Funderburk is moving on from the Syracuse program

The Syracuse wide receiver corps will be less one man this season as Quinta Funderburk has decided to transfer. The news was first reported by Chris Carlson of Syracuse Media Group and subsequently confirmed by CuseNation.com.

Head coach Scott Shafer addressed the situation after practice on Tuesday.

”He’s one of those guys that has another year of eligibility,” Shafer said. “Kind of like Drew did, Drew Allen coming in. As I talked to his family, they’re looking at different options. Hopefully he gets a good opportunity somewhere. We decided to go in another direction.”

The move is not a huge surprise, as Funderburk has struggled to get on the field since transferring from Arkansas. A former four-star prospect coming out of high school, he has failed to translate that promise into on-field production. Now he looks for another home.

Syracuse has plenty of depth at wide receiver with Steve Ishmael, Alvin Cornelius, Ervin Philips, Ashton Broyld, Brisly Estime and Ben Lewis all expecting to be in the rotation this season.
