Syracuse Recruiting Hot Board: OLB

Linebackers are critical for the success of Scott Shafer's defensive system. Syracuse is, once again, in the mix for several talented outside linebacker prospects in 2016. We breakdown where things stand, the pecking order of those with offers and names to watch down the road inside.

Syracuse loves linebackers and will recruit multiple outside backers every cycle. They are involved with a bunch of talented ones already. Here is where things currently stand.

The Top Tier

Koby Quansah is one of Syracuse’s top targets. They have been recruiting him for some time and he remains interested in the Orange. Quansah is currently attempting to schedule a return visit to Central New York.

Jamir Jones is one of the top in-state targets. From the Rochester (N.Y.) area, he could have a big camp season where he picks up a bunch of offers. The Orange will continue to recruit him hard, however.

Elias Reynolds is another in-state target who the Orange like. He visited during the spring and seems to like Syracuse, not love them. Gut feeling is he ends up elsewhere.

Chase Pine is a really interested prospect. Expect Syracuse to stay involved until the end, though it may be tough to beat the in-state Caveliers.

Tre Lamar is a bit of a pipedream. He will likely be an SEC type of prospect.

The Next Level

Rashawn Battle likes Syracuse and wants to visit. He has takent trips to several others, however. Syracuse may be on the outside here, but will continue to keep him on the radar.

Alexy Jean-Baptiste is one of several Sunshine State products with a Syracuse offer. There has not been a lot of activity on his front regarding the Orange, but they could make a push if they can get him to visit. For now, consider Syracuse on the outside.

Tabarius Peterson is from the Peach State where Syracuse has had success in the past. Syracuse could make a push here if they miss on their regional targets. Don’t be surprised if he visits over the summer.

Other Names to Watch

Troy Dygert is from Elmira and is only slightly on the Syracuse radar. They have invited him to camp over the summer, and he is expected to attend. He will have to impress as he is on the shorter side. For now, he is receiving plenty of FCS interest.

Lawrence Garner is a New Jersey target that visited for the spring game. He is an intriguing target given his size, but does not have an offer yet. Depending on how things go this spring and summer, he could be one to watch.

Ryan Gilmartin is a three-star prospect out of North Carolina. He also has good size and could be one to watch if he visits over the summer.

Kyle O’Donnell is an in-state target who is on the smaller side. Still, he could be one to camp over the summer where he would have a chance to impress.

Dymelle Parker has three offers and could snag some more this summer. Keep an eye on him as he is very talented and is from New Jersey where Syracuse is very active.

Brendan Pyne is already on the radar as he visited during the spring to watch practice. He enjoyed his trip and Syracuse would vault up his list with an offer.

Tyreek Williams is an interesting prospect. Rated well, has some athleticism and skill, but is on the smaller side. That may be what holds him back from an offer. Regardless, he is one to watch. He visited during the spring game and loved the trip.
