According to Brett McMurphy of ESPN, Syracuse basketball will host the Wisconsin Badgers in the ACC/Big-10 Challenge in the 2015-16 season. Syracuse Athletics subsequently confirmed the news. This is the third year Syracuse will participate in the event, beating Indiana two seasons ago at home and losing at Michigan last year.
The Carrier Dome matchup will take place on Wednesday December 2nd.
The Badgers are coming off of the most prolific season in program history, earning a one seed in the NCAA Tournament and advancing to the national championship game. Many players from that team, however, will be gone, including Frank Kaminsky and Sam Dekker. Still, it will be a big name opponent in the Carrier Dome that is sure to generate some buzz.
The last time Syracuse and Wisconsin played on the hardwood was during the 2012 NCAA Tournament in the Sweet 16 round. The Orange advanced with a 64-63 win as a Badgers’ shot at the buzzer was off the mark. Syracuse would go on to fall to Ohio State in the Elite Eight.
Other notable non-conference matchups for the Orange include a trip to Georgetown, the first matchup between the historical rivals since Syracuse left the Big East, and a trip to the Bahamas for the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament that features Connecticut, Texas, Texas A&M, Gonzaga, Washington, Michigan and Charlotte.
