Syracuse offered three-star guard Blake Hickey out of Godley High in Texas on Wednesday. The Lone Star State talent holds offers from California, Duke, Houston, Illinois, Kansas and Northwestern among others.
Even with that list of offers, Hickey is very interested in Syracuse and remains open to the program.
"I am open to everyone right now," Hickey said. "I'm trying to find the place that feels like a second home and where I can be competitive and win games. I am going to talk to my parents about getting out there this summer."
Hickey has been developing a relationship with offensive line coach Joe Adam for several weeks, so the offer was not the first he had hear from the Orange. Despite only speaking a few times, the talented guard has a high opinion of coach Adam.
"He is awesome," Hickey said. "It's always good talking with him. He's a good guy and he doesn't always just ask about football."
Hickey admits he is still learning about Syracuse football and does not know much about the program. But with an offer in tow, he plans on doing sufficient research prior to any visit that may happen in the coming months.
He currently holds no favorites and has no timetable for a decision, but if Syracuse makes a push and has a strong visit, they could in this one until the end.
Syracuse is looking to take one or two interior lineman this cycle. Hickey is ranked as the 31st best offensive guard in the 2016 class.
