Chad Simmons is one of the most respected names in high school recruiting. He is one of Scout's national recruiting analysts, and is responsible for the state of Georgia for the network. Naturally, when Syracuse landed Sandy Creek High's Will Harper out of the Peach State, CuseNation.com reached out to Chad to get his thoughts on the safety/linebacker prospect.
"Harper is a kid coming out of one of the top high school programs in the state of Georgia," Simmons said. "He is well coached, he is pushed in the weight room, and he will come out of high school as prepared to play college ball as anyone.
"On the field, he likes to mix it up. He is a tough kid who likes to hit and strike the offensive player. He may project best as a nickel back, then free safety. Harper is better moving forward than he is backward at this time. Coming downhill in the alley to support the run is a strength.
"Not elite quickness or hips, but instinctive and a solid frame to build on," He continued. "His hands are a plus in his arsenal as well.
"He is not a kid who has been out there at many events, so his name is not known, by Syracuse is getting a solid football player who knows the game, who knows how to put in the work, and one who could be a real find for the Orange."
