Trudo Named to Rimington Trophy Watch List

Syracuse senior center Rob Trudo has been named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List, an award given out to the nation's best center.

Rob Trudo has been given some preseason accolades despite playing a position for the first time entering this season. Trudo has transitioned to center for this season after spending the previous three at guard.

NEW YORK – Senior center Rob Trudo has been named to the 2015 Rimington Trophy Watch List, released on Wednesday, July 8. The trophy and is named after two-time Nebraska consensus All-American Dave Rimington and is presented annually to the most outstanding center in FBS football.

A three-year starter at guard, Trudo moved to center in the spring. He has started 33 games in his Orange career and helped the 2012 SU squad set school records for most yards of total offense (6,188), most plays (1,028) and most passing yards (3,757). Trudo was named to Lindy's Preseason All-ACC Third Team last month.

Trudo is one of 63 centers on this year's watch list, including seven from ACC schools. In addition to Trudo, Ryan Norton (Clemson), Matt Skura (Duke), Freddie Burden (Georgia Tech), Quinton Schooley (NC State), Lucas Crowley (North Carolina) and Alex Officer (Pittsburgh) represent the ACC as potential candidates for the award.

The winner of the trophy is selected by determining the consensus All-America center from the Walter Camp, Sporting News and Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) All-America teams. This year's honoree will be recognized during the Rimington Trophy Presentation at the Rococo Theatre in Lincoln, Neb. on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016.

Since its inception, the Rimington Trophy has raised over $2.6 million for the cystic fibrosis community. The award is overseen by the Boomer Esiason Foundation, which is committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis and has raised over $115 million for CF Research.
