Battle Shines in Return

Tyus Battle plays well with his new AAU squad over the weekend.

Saturday marked Tyus Battle’s highly anticipated return to action as he suited up for New Heights in the Under Armour Circuit.

Earlier Sunday, Battle went for 16 points in a New Heights loss. The day before, he scored 19 and 21 in two games, Brendan Phelps told CuseNation.com.

Syracuse assistant Adrian Autry watched Battle on Saturday, and Sunday Gerry McNamara joined him. The two sat court-side for both Battle and 2017 Expression Elite 5-star Nick Richards.

Phelps also told CuseNation.com that Battle looked both “solid and sluggish” in his return. The 5-star guard put up big numbers, especially coming off an injury that took significant time to heal.

New Heights went 2-1 in the three games Tyus played. With a weekend average of 18.7 points per game, it’s safe to say Battle is back to form. He skipped the final game of the weekend, in which they lost 73-67, to celebrate his sister’s birthday. It was previously planned that Battle would not play in Sunday afternoon’s game.

Tyus will return to the court on July 15-18 with New Heights in the Under Armour Association finals in Atlanta. The schedule is expected to be released early this week.
