Syracuse Recruiting Trend Meter

As recruits prepare to take more visits with the dead period over, CuseNation.com takes a look at where things stand with some of Syracuse football's top 2016 targets still on the board.

Here is a look at some of Syracuse’s top targets entering the middle of summer and where things stand with each.

TREND:

The Latest: Jay Rose said Syracuse was one of the first schools to contact him as soon as the dead period ended. He visited last month and says Syracuse is still high on his list. Rose plans to visit again at some point, likely during the season.

TREND:

The Latest: Albert Okwuegbunam has maintained his strong interest in Syracuse and even indicated he wanted to visit. However, he seems to be looking at other schools harder right now. The Orange are not out of it, but are trending that way.

TREND:

The Latest: Moe Neal says that Syracuse is in his top five and each school on that list is even. That said, the Orange have a leg up with Robert Washington committed, and Syracuse is in a good spot.

TREND:

The Latest: Amir Tyler seems to be a backup plan to Neal. If Neal looks elsewhere, expect Syracuse to make a big push for Tyler. But as of now, the Orange are trending down because they are not prepared to take him. That said, they were in contact as soon as the dead period ended.

TREND:

The Latest: Patrick Kearns is a luxury for Syracuse going forward. The Orange have three offensive linemen committed that they really like. Kearns and Syracuse have strong mutual interest, but there may not be room for him.

TREND:

The Latest: Blake Hickey indicated he wants to visit Syracuse and the Orange have stayed in touch. But as Hickey’s recruitment picks up with other schools, Syracuse’s lack of room may be a problem. However, Hickey may be too talented for them to pass on if he wants to join the program. A potential visit may be the key. Hickey has always been somewhat of a longshot for Syracuse, and that has not changed.

TREND:

The Latest: Chase Behrndt has had Syracuse towards the top of his list, but the Orange seem to have gone in other directions with their offensive line haul nearly complete to this point. He was always likely to stay close to home.

TREND:

The Latest: Jamal Holloway is set to visit Syracuse on the 16th, and the Orange are trending up for his services. That does not mean he will commit during the visit, but that Syracuse should be considered the favorite. His teammate, Dymelle Parker, is already committed and will continue to help the Orange’s cause.

TREND:

The Latest: Colby Reeder was thought to be ready to pull the trigger before the dead period, but has gone silent since his visit. Word is Syracuse would still take him, but his silence seems to speak towards him staying more patient than originally thought. This means Syracuse could fill up before he is ready to decide.

TREND:

The Latest: Cycoby Burch decommitted from Wisconsin and Syracuse has been in touch ever since. The three-star corner says he will take an official visit. That will tell the tale of Syracuse’s chances.

TREND:

The Latest: Martin Mangram says he remains high on the Orange, but said they did not reach out after the dead period ended. Just before the start of the dead period, however, he said Syracuse told him he was the top defensive back on their board and they want him to “join the family.” Syracuse seems to be the favorite here.

TREND:

The Latest: Eric Burrell remains high on the Orange but a ways away from a decision. Official visits could tell the tale. He has already set one for Nebraska from September 11-13.

TREND:

The Latest: Devon Clarke is a very intriguing recruitment. He committed to Oregon State early, but Syracuse still seemed to be the favorite. He subsequently decommitted and declared Syracuse his favorite. Even with that, something seems to be off here. For now, he could be a backup plan to Burrell. Whether or not he schedules an official visit somewhat quickly may be all you need to know on where things stand. This seems to be a case of ‘if Syracuse wants him they can have him.’
