Syracuse Still on Top for 3-star Safety

Three-star safety Devon Clarke remains high on the Orange as he looks to schedule official visits.

It’s been about a month and a half since three-star Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola High safety Devon Clarke named Syracuse as his leader. Fast forward to the end of July, and nothing has changed. Clarke still has the Orange on top.

”I like their fan base,” he said. “I know when I visit I’ll love their campus (as well). I looked up the commitments they have for my class and see they’re starting something great.”

Clarke says he was in communication with Syracuse as recently as a week ago. This despite many Orange coaches taking a little time off to spend time with their families.

”They were telling me how they can really use a player like me in their secondary,” Clarke said.

Clarke added Syracuse will get an official visit this fall.

”Oh yes for sure,” he said. “That’s my first one.”

The question is will that be the only one he needs? It is certainly possible he pulls the trigger during that visit, which has not been scheduled yet.

Clarke is waiting to hear back from the Orange on which dates work the best. Once he gets that information, the official will be scheduled promptly.

Syracuse is not the only school in touch with the 6-foot-3 defensive back. Clarke says Bowling Green, Temple and South Alabama are also recruiting him very hard.
