Training Camp Notebook: 8/25

News, notes and observations from Tuesday's practice of Syracuse football training camp.

Just 10 days away from the season opener, Syracuse football resumed their training camp on Tuesday. The first 20 minutes of practice was open to the media, and here are some news and notes from that session.

-Two NFL scouts were on hand for practice. The Washington Redskins and Jacksonville Jaguars were represented.

-For the second day in a row, the intensity level seemed to be very high. The team looks to be gearing up for game week.

-The offensive line was working on protecting the pocket and backing off in shotgun formation.

-The quarterbacks once again worked on their exchanges with the centers while throwing short/intermediate basic routes to receivers. There did not seem to be any issues with the exchanges.

-For the second day in a row, Ervin Philips, Brisly Estime and Jacob Hill were catching punts.

-The linebackers and defensive linemen worked on staying low underneath a tent and exploding to the line. This helps teach stance technique and balance.

-Place kickers worked on long field goal attempts from 40-50 yards.

-This was the last practice with any portion open to the media. Syracuse kicks off with Rhode Island on Friday, September 4th at 7pm.
