Team: NC State
2014 Record: 8-5
Returning starters: 15 (7 offense, 8 defense)
Most important offensive player: Jacoby Brissett – NC State's senior quarterback, Brissett operates NC State's offense. Last season he was one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the country, passing for over 20 touchdowns with just five interceptions.
Most important defensive player: Mike Rose – NC State's lone senior in the defensive front seven, Rose will be counted on to provide leadership and production. He's one of the top tackles for a loss leaders in the ACC and could be poised for a big season.
Emerging offensive player: Jaylen Samuels – NC State's fullback/tight end, look for the Wolfpack to move Samuels all over the field. He was outstanding with the ball in his hands as a true freshman, and don't be surprised if he leads the team in receptions this season.
Emerging defensive player: Josh Jones – The light clicked for Jones late in his redshirt freshman season and the rising sophomore started to make a bunch of plays. He's a physical hitter and true playmaker from his strong safety position.
How they matchup with Syracuse: NC State will host Syracuse this season and expect them to look to secure back-to-back wins versus the Cuse. The Wolfpack will look to control the ball on the ground and pressure quarterback Terrel Hunt.
Season outlook: Expectations are high for NC State this season. 15 starters returning... a senior, experienced quarterback... playmakers on all three levels defensively... two proven tailbacks... four offensive line starters. There is a lot to be optimistic about this season in Raleigh.
