Syracuse Offers 2016 4-star Taurean Thompson

Syracuse basketball's 2016 recruiting class is currently ranked eighth in the nation. The Orange may not be done, however. CuseNation.com learned late Tuesday night that a new offer has been extended.

Late Tuesday night, CuseNation.com received information regarding Syracuse extending an offer to 2016 4-star center Taurean Thompson.

Thompson, who will suit up for Brewster Academy (NH) this upcoming year, started receiving interested from the Orange back in May. The 6-foot-10 center would be a solid get for Jim Boeheim. He’s an athletic center who runs the floor extremely well, and can also make a 15-footer.

Thompson has unbelievable potential despite limited basketball opportunities. His game is a little raw, but there is tremendous upside.

A source informed CuseNation.com that Taurean could be on SU’s campus as early as later this month. His AAU team, New Jersey Playaz, has produced numerous high-profile prospects, including Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter, J.R. Smith, Kyle Anderson, Wayne Ellington, among others.

Thompson averaged 8.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game this past AAU season. He went for a season-high 20 points and 8 rebounds against Each 1 Teach 1 (FL) on May 23rd.

Syracuse is currently out of available scholarships for the 2016-17 season due to the NCAA sanctions handed down in March. However, Syracuse University has filed an appeal and expects to regain a scholarship.
