The Syracuse Orange lost a recruiting battle with 3-star Jay Rose to the in-state UConn Huskies

Jay Rose, a three-star prospect from Connecticut, chooses in-state UConn over Syracuse.

Southington (Conn.) High quarterback Jay Rose has made his decision and decided to stay home. The three-star prospect committed to Connecticut on Thursday over his other finalist, Syracuse.

The Orange have recruited Rose hard for several months, but were unable to lure him aware from the big in-state school. Rose was recruited as a quarterback by both schools, but UConn is the closest to him, an important factor in his recruitment.

Syracuse is still expected to add another quarterback to their 2016 class, it just will not be Rose. There are several talented options still available. You can check out the inside scoop on who Syracuse will target going forward in our Recruiting Ripple HERE.

They currently have 13 players committed this cycle. There are around eight slots, give or take a couple, available going forward.
