Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey is officially out for the Orange's game against LSU

Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey has been ruled out for Saturday's matchup with LSU, according to head coach Scott Shafer.

Early in the week leading up to Saturday's game between Syracuse and LSU, Orange head coach Scott Shafer has referred to quarterback Eric Dungey as "doubtful." On Thursday, that was downgraded to out.

During his weekly game-week press conference, Shafer said Dungey would not play against the Tigers, but he continues to feel better. Shafer added that the two had breakfast together Thursday morning.

With Dungey out, Syracuse will turn to backups Zachary Mahoney and Austin Wilson. Both Shafer and offensive coordinator Tim Lester have indicated that Mahoney will get the start. It would not surprise if both saw action. A.J. Long is also in the mix, but still recovering from an injured hand he suffered during training camp. He may only be used in an emergency.

Syracuse and LSU kickoff at noon on Saturday inside the Carrier Dome.
