Late Tuesday evening, Syracuse offered Kevin Knox, a 2017 5-star power forward from Tampa (FL).
His father, Kevin Knox, Sr., played football at Florida State. His mother, Michelle, played Volleyball at Florida State, as well.
Despite having strong ties to FSU, Knox isn't ready to name any favorites. "Right now, I'm open to everybody," he told Scout. "I really don't have a favorite."
Jim Boeheim could play a big role in his recruitment due to his prestigious background, "I'm big on coaching," the 5-star forward said. "I really want a coach who is fair and will give me an opportunity and support me."
Knox told CuseNation.com his father has been in contact with the Syracuse assistant coaches. Although he didn't name which ones, he assured Tuesday wasn't the first time the two parties had been in contact.
When asked if proximity to home is a key factor, Knox responded, "I will go anywhere. A lot is based on coaching and getting to know my family."
"Syracuse is a great school," he said, "It's a great atmosphere and has great coaches."
The Tampa Catholic product helped Team USA win a gold medal in the FIBA Americas Tournament, averaging 10.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
"I have no visits planned at this time," he told CuseNation.com.
