Former Syracuse quarterback AJ Long looking for a transfer destination

Former Syracuse quarterback A.J. Long is transferring from Syracuse and has already heard from a few schools.

Former Syracuse quarterback A.J. Long announced on Twitter on Tuesday that he has received his release from SU and is looking to transfer to continue his college playing career. Long has been medically disqualified by Syracuse due to frequent concussions.

Long was forced into action as a true freshman last season due to injuries at the quarterback position. Long completed 89 of his 165 passing attempts (53.9%) for 935 yards with four touchdowns and eight interceptions. That includes a 307-yard passing effort in a loss against NC State. He also rushed for two touchdowns.

Despite only having his release for a short period of time, Long said he has already received interest from four schools. They are TempleMaryland, Colgate and Fordham. He says it is too early to tell how serious the interest is from those programs and he has not set up any visits as of yet.

Interestingly, Syracuse plays Colgate to open the 2016 season.
