After committing to Syracuse in the summer of 2014 as part of their 2015 recruiting class, defensive end Brandon Ginnetti suffered a leg injury that ended his senior season. Because of that injury, he was forced to spend a year at prep school (Cheshire Academy in Connecticut) in order to prove he was healthy.
Having done just that, playing for Cheshire for a full season, and playing productive football, Ginnetti will arrive on the Syracuse campus in January. Ginnetti spoke with Orange head coach Scott Shafer Thursday morning over the phone and coach Shafer confirmed the news.
"I just felt very relieved," Ginnetti said. "Yes it did feel like committing again, even though I already was. This is the most excited I've been in a while. A weight lifted off my shoulders."
Ginnetti said he also spoke with defensive coordinator Chuck Bullough and defensive line coach Tim Daoust. He will take an official visit next month, sign next month as well, and then join the program officially in January. The official visit date has not been set as of yet, but both sides are in the process of working that out.
