Morgan State Bears lost their last game to Brown 45-72, the most points Morgan State has scored this season. The most experienced player in the starting line-up for the Bears is red-shirt junior guard Danielle Robinson. Robinson leads the charge for Morgan State and had 14 points against Brown.
Morgan State goes ten deep into its roster, consistently giving substantial minutes to ten players each game. The Bears may play its starting five more than it has this season as Morgan State hasn’t played any ranked teams thus far.
This game will mark the home opener for Syracuse this season. Syracuse has won the last 69 non-conference home games played. The last non-conference home game the Orange lost was nine years ago on December 22nd, 2006 when they lost 42-56 to Canisius.
The Orange are coming off a heart-breaking loss 55-57 to #4 ranked Tennessee on Friday night. Coach Hillsman was pleased that the team held the Lady Vols to 57 points and was complimentary to the team’s performance, but it is still not a win, he said.
Three of the Orange scored in double figures against Tennessee. Alexis Peterson had 19 points, Brittney Sykes had 13 points, and Brianna Butler had 10 points.
The starting line-up for the Orange is brimming with experience, as they are all juniors and seniors. On paper this game should be no contest, but Syracuse approaches each game with intensity. If they can hold the Bears to under 50 points they will win for sure.
Syracuse should be able to increase their points in the paint against Morgan State as Bria and Briana Day are two inches taller than the tallest player on the Bear’s roster. The Orange had 18 points down low against Tennessee.
