(HOW DID YOU DEAL WITH LAST YEAR)
You do a lot of soul searching. You just go out there and look at every aspect and start from scratch. And you just do whatever it takes you get your swagger back. I never lost confidence. People thought I lost my confidence but I never lost it. I'm a confident guy. But things don't go your way, you need to refocus yourself, and that's what I did.
(TALK ABOUT WALTER REYES)
Walter is the ultimate workhorse. That dude is a superstar. We passed the ball a lot and he split time and he ran for (1135) yards and (17) touchdowns. Imagine if he ran at another school. He would've ran for 2,000. You might not have even seen Walt this year.
(DID YOU BECOME MORE VOCAL LAST YEAR WHEN YOU STRUGGLED?)
Last year I tried to, and some people didn't listen. You have to earn your respect. Last year, I earned it, lost it, and then got it back. You got to go out there and be about it and not just talk about it. On the field, I wasn't about it. When you're losing, you're not about anything. They could see it in my eyes and they knew how badly it hurt.
(WHAT DID YOU LEARN FROM LAST YEAR?)
I learned how to never think you're all set in terms of, you've got to qualify for your job everyday. Go out there and be professional everyday.
(ARE YOU WORRIED ABOUT COMPETITION FOR YOUR JOB?)
Going into last year, I didn't think it was a problem. I didn't think Troy was a problem. He didn't think he was going to play. We got people that can play. It's not like we don't have any experience back at quarterback. But I'm going in with the intention of taking every snap unless it's a blowout. Otherwise, I'm not coming out of the game.
