Syracuse football has their new director of recruiting and his name is Asil Mulbah, according to his Twitter bio and Scout sources. Syracuse Athletics confirmed the news later in the afternoon. He had held that same position at Wake Forest since 2014 when Dave Clawson took over the program. Prior to that, he was the Director of Player Personnel at Bowling Green.
"Asil has done an outstanding job of establishing contacts with high school coaches from across the country," head coach Dino Babers said in a statement. "He got his feet wet in this conference at Wake Forest. Now he's coming to Syracuse to be the leader of our #OrangeIsTheNewFast recruiting program."
Mulbah spent four seasons at BGSU in total, with the first three as assistant academic coordinator/offensive quality control. Before that, he was the Player Personnel Scouting Assistant for the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars. He helped the Jaguars with their free agency efforts.
Mulbah played college football himself, spending two seasons with the Fordham Rams. A career ending injury prematurely ended his playing days. He did graduate from Fordham, however, in 2010 with a degree in business administration.
The position at Syracuse was held by Eric White, who reportedly is set to take a position at Maryland.
