The fifth best offensive guard in the 2017 class is none other than Marcus Minor out of DeMatha Catholic in Maryland. Minor is the 123rd best prospect in the class as well, and top guard in the East Region.
Syracuse recently extended an offer, and it's one Minor has been waiting for.
"Very interested," Minor said. "They're one of my top schools who has my major."
That major? Journalism. The fact that Syracuse has a reputation as the top journalism school in the country is not something that is long on the 6-foot-4 lineman.
"(It) shows that the school will impact my future positively and I like that," Minor said.
Snagging Minor won't be easy. Not by a longshot. He already holds offers from Boston College, Virginia, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, West Virginia and others with more sure to follow.
But starting the relationship early will only help the Orange, especially with the academic prowess they can use as a selling point.
Minor says he has nothing scheduled, but is definitely planning on getting to Central New York for a visit soon. His primary recruiter is Reno Ferri, who he thinks highly of based on initial contact.
