One of the top high school football programs in the Midwest is Cass Tech in Michigan. The school routinely produces division one talent year after year. The new Syracuse coaching staff is looking to start a pipeline to the school, and started by signing three-star linebacker Tim Walton in the 2016 class.
Cass Tech is visiting Syracuse Sunday and Monday to check out the school. Several of their players will be in attendance for the trip. They will arrive Sunday and complete the visit on Monday. Full visitor list below.
Class of 2017
Four-star safety Jaylen Kelly-Powell has size, speed and elite talent. He is one of the top safeties in the Midwest in 2017 and in the country. He has offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Stanford, Tennessee, UCLA and many others. He will only be visiting Sunday as he has a camp to attend on Monday.
Three-star corner Donovan Johnson has big time speed and is a playmaker in the defensive backfield. He also holds offers from Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Syracuse, Tennessee and Toledo.
Jordan Reid is an athletic interior offensive lineman with a big frame. He has a bunch of power five offers including Florida, Iowa State, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Syracuse and Tennessee.
Zach Morton is an outside backer with speed, explosion and a frame to add enough weight to play at the power five level. He currently holds offers from Cincinnati, Iowa State and Syracuse.
Rodney Hall is a dual threat quarterback who is athletic enough to play multiple positions if it doesn't work out at QB. He currently hold an offer from Eastern Michigan in addition to Syracuse.
Taron Young is a big, physical inside backer who also plays a little running back for Cass Tech. He does not hold an offer from Syracuse at this time.
Otis Doss is an outside linebacker prospect who also does not hold an offer from Syracuse.
Donovan Williams is a safety prospect with solid measurables at 6-foot-2 and running a 4.52 40. He does not have an offer from Syracuse.
Kelvin Ateman is a 6-foot-4, 264 pound two-way lineman. Syracuse views him as an interior offensive lineman. He currently does not hold an offer from the Orange.
Class of 2018
Deandre Square is a safety prospect who could blow up as the summer and fall progress. He already holds an offer from Cincinnati and one from Syracuse may not be far behind. Square has positional versatility as he could also play outside linebacker.
Kalon Gervin is a corner with elite speed. He already holds several offers including Illinois, Iowa State, Michigan, Penn State and Pittsburgh. He will be one of the best in the Midwest in 2018.
