One of several Cass Tech players who entered the weekend without a Syracuse offer was 2017 defensive back Donovan Williams. Williams did not pick up an offer on the trip, but that did not prevent him from having a good time.
"I really enjoyed it," he said. "One of the best visits I went to. I really like the coaches there. I was really able to vibe with them. Especially my position coach (Nick Monroe).
"I loved the facilities and the atmosphere there."
Williams said he was able to speak with coach Monroe extensively about the defensive system, how he would potentially fit within it and his philosophies on coaching defensive backs. That meant a lot to Williams and was one of the highlights of the visit.
Even though Williams was not offered by coach Monroe, he said he could tell there was legitimate interest.
"He likes that I'm long, have length," Williams said. "He said to keep in touch with him and he is going to watch my highlights."
In addition to spending time with the coaches, a highlight of the visit was checking out the facilities.
"Everything was great," Williams said. "The facilities were still being refurbished and new things were being added. The campus was outstanding and the Dome was unbelievable. Can't wait to get back when everything is done being built."
