Taron Young was one of 11 visitors to the Syracuse campus out of Cass Tech in Michigan. Young is an inside linebacker prospect who is big, thick and powerful. He said the visit went very well for him.
"Really enjoyed my visit there," Young said. "Great coaching staff. The best parts were the Dome was awesome, man. Not just that, the coaches were open and not "shooting smoke." They were great guys.
"What impressed me was how they changed each school with that record into a winning school."
That is what Syracuse fans are hoping for in Central New York, and a Cass Tech pipeline would certainly help those efforts.
Young was not offered on the trip and said a lot of his interaction with the coaching staff was defensive scheme related as well as life after football. Young enjoyed interacting with the coaches and felt like their scheme was a good fit for his skill set.
"Loved it," he said. "Tampa 2 is almost similar to what we run in Cass Tech."
The visit left Young hoping for an offer down the line as he is very interested in what the program has to offer.
"I definitely enjoyed it," he said. "I feel I can see myself there in the future making big plays."
In addition to Syracuse, Young is also hearing from Purdue, Cincinnati and some division two programs.
