Syracuse is showing interest in class of 2016 big man Cheickna Dembele

Syracuse will watch 2016 big man Cheickna Dembele on Sunday.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse assistant coach Gerry McNamara will watch class of 2016 big man Cheickna Dembele of Scotland Performance Instititue (Chambersburg, PA), according to his head coach Jareem Dowling.

Dembele is a 6-foot-10, 230-pound big man who's recruitment is beginning to take off. He's orginally from Mali, and has been in the United States for less than one year.

Coach Dowling told CuseNation.com that Cheick has offers from Charlotte, Iowa State, La Salle, MissouriNC State and St. Joe's 

He has interest from a plethora of schools, including: LSU, Florida, BaylorAlabamaConnecticutProvidenceIowaArkansasArizonaPenn StateTempleMarylandGeorgetownSouthern MississippiWashington StateGeorge Mason and Evansville.

"He went 14-for-14 from the free throw line last game," Dowling said. "He's shooting 80 percent from the line this year. Syracuse started showing interest the day of the Louisville game."

Syracuse hasn't extended an offer, but given the recent news regarding Taurean Thompson, it isn't out of the question.
