Taurean Thompson: Every new development is always considered

An update on Taurean Thompson after Dajuan Coleman announces his return next season.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Yesterday afternoon, news broke that Dajuan Coleman will return for his fifth year of eligibility at Syracuse. Despite what many people believe, that's very good news for the Orange.

If Coleman left, SU would have only Paschal Chukwu and Chinonso Obokoh on scholarship at the center position, while Tyler Lydon would remain an emergency option.

Class of 2016 big man Taurean Thompson is on the record for wanting to see which players would be on each roster of the four schools he's considering - Syracuse, Seton Hall, Providence and Georgetown - before making a decision.

One of those elements that was hanging in the balance was whether or not Coleman would return next year. He is, which means Thompson-to-Syracuse becomes less likely.

"My son has battled through injuries as well, so I understand waiting to play because time was missed," Sherese Piper, Taurean's mother, said. "All I will say about that is every new development is considered. Syracuse definitely needs a strong frontcourt next season."

Taurean is still considered Syracuse, as well as the other three schools listed above.
