Recruiting Weekend Primer

Syracuse is set to host a plethora of talented players on Saturday for both the football and basketball programs. Full visitor list and preview inside.

Syracuse football hosted nearly two dozen prospects last Saturday and is will have even more on campus this time around. Not to be outdone, the Syracuse basketball program will have four players in attendance when the Orange face NC State on Saturday.

Hamidou Diallo is a top-10 player in the 2017 class. He is 6-foot-5 with long arms. Diallo is at his best in the open floor and attacking the rim. He is a streaky outside shooter but can absolutely fill it up from deep. Syracuse has made Diaollo a big priority in 2017.

Another priority in 2017 is point guard Quade Green. Green is from the same high school as former Syracuse stars Scoop Jardine and Rick Jackson. Green is a lightning quick guard who can make plays in the lane and find teammates for open looks. The Orange want a point guard in 2017 and Green has become their top target at the position.

Tyus Battle is a five-star prospect who has already signed with Syracuse. He returns to the Orange campus to watch them face NC State on senior night and to help recruit Diallo and Green.

Matthew Moyer is a four-star, versatile forward prospect who can play the three or the four. He continues to add weight to his frame in order to be ready to contribute right away. Moyer helped Syracuse recruit Battle and will try to work some of that magic again on both Diallo and Green.

C.J. Holmes is one of the top athletes in the Northeast in the 2017 class. He has been speaking with the new Syracuse staff over the past couple of weeks and is looking forward to getting to know on this trip. Holmes remains wide open so there is plenty of time for the Orange to make an impression. He is intrigued by Dino Babers' explosive offense.

Allen Stritzinger is a four-star running back who has a previous relationship with Syracuse assistant Mike Hart. Hart offered Stritzinger while at Western Michigan. Currently, Stritzinger does not have an offer from the Orange but that could change on the trip.

A three-star athlete, Eric Coley does not hold an offer from Syracuse entering the trip. It would not be a surprise if they pulled the trigger one one during the visit. Coley hold offers from Ball State, Bowling Green and Central Michigan. Coley has transferred to Fayetteville-Manlius for his senior season.

Tayon Fleet-Davis was supposed to visit last Saturday but did not make it. He will be there this time, he tellls, and is excited about learning more about the football program. Syracuse is very high on Fleet-Davis. Get to know him better in the Scout Spotlight at the top of the page.

Jairus Grissom is a talented athlete out of Deerborn Heights (Mich.). Syracuse likes Grissom as a quarterback, he tells Grissom currently holds offers from Central Michigan, Houston, NC State, Syracuse, Toledo and Wake Forest among others.

Syracuse wants wide receivers in 2017 and Eddie Lewis is an intriguing option. He hails from New Jersey and will visit the Orange on Saturday. He currently does not hold an offer from SU, but does hold one from Boston College, Duke, Iowa, North Carolina and Rutgers among others.

Jahmin Muse is an athlete from New Jersey who Syracuse likes as either a defensive back or wide receiver. He currently holds offers from Boston College, Maryland and Rutgers. B.C. and Rutgers seem to be out front at this point.

Decavilon Reese is a threee-star running back from Ohio. He has interest from several power five schools but his only offer other than Syracuse is from Toledo at this time.

Brandon Sebastian is a three-star wide receiver, but Syracuse likes him as a defensive back. He is one of several players from Cheshire Academy in Connecticut. He currently holds offers from Boston College, UConn, Rutgers and Temple.

Cardinal Hayes High in the Bronx (N.Y.) will have several players on campus. One of them is defensive tackle Terrell Alexander. He is listed at 6-foot-1, 260-pounds, so he needs to add weight to his frame .

The quarterback at Cardinal Hayes is Christian Anderson. Anderson is listed at 6-foot-1, 170-pounds.

Another New Jersey wide receiver prospect, Ezrah Archie hails from Timber Creek High School. He is set to check out Syracuse with a few of his teammates.

Matthew Bauer holds offers from Syracuse and Virginia. He is a class of 2018 outside linebacker prospect from Cathedral Prep in Erie (Penn.).

Jamaal Beaty is an interior offensive lineman prospect from Holmdel High in New Jersey. He currently holds offers from Rutgers and Syracuse.

Brayden Brown is a running back/athlete from Michigan. Syracuse likes him a lot. He has big time speed at 4.34 40-time according to his hudl page. He is also listed at 6-foot-2 and has the ability to play defensive back.

Justin Brown is a running back from St. Luke's School in Connecticut. He currently holds offers from Army and Temple.

Maybe the best name on the visitor list for Saturday is Cardinal Hayes outside linebacker Souleymane Camera. He is 6-foot-2, 200-pounds, so is a bit undersized at this time in terms of his body weight.

Another offensive lineman from Pennsylvania, Nate Caron is from Kiski High and is set to visit the Orange.

Eric Chenault is a class of 2018 wide receiver from River Rouge High in Michigan.

A running back from St. John Vianney Regional High in New Jersey, Chris Chukwuneke says Syracuse has expressed a lot of interest. He believes they might be close to offering.

Nasir Darnell is a defensive end prospect out of Red Bank Catholic in New Jersey. He currently holds offers from Columbia and Penn.

Tommy DeVito is a quarterback out of Don Bosco in New Jersey. He currently holds offers from Buffalo and Maryland.

Travis Ecke is an intriguing tight end prospect out of Cheshire Academy. He has the height and length at 6-foot-4, but is only listed at 200-pounds. He will need to add weight to his frame, but is a prospect to monitor.

A wide receiver out of Cardinal Hayes High, Shameen Jones is set to visit Syracuse on Saturday. He is currently receiving interest from several regional programs.

Cameron Kelly is a defensive back from Connecticut. He is excited about visiting Syracuse, but admitted he knows he needs to improve in order to earn an offer.

Devin Leary is a 2018 quarterback from Timber Creek High in New Jersey. He holds offers from Syracuse and Temple.

The quarterback at Cheshire High, C.J. Lewis is set to visit Syracuse. His only offer currently is from in-state UConn.

Edwin Lopez is a defensive back prospect out of Woodrow Wilson High in New Jersey. He holds offers from NC State, Rutgers, Syracuse and others.

A teammate of Lopez at Woodrow Wilson High is running back Jelani McCargo. Syracuse likes him as a linebacker. He currently holds an offer from NC State.

Joseph Mischler is a 2018 quarterback from Cathedral Prep. Mischler is an undersized quarterback prospect at just 5-foot-11.

Nick Novak is another offensive lineman visiting Syracuse on Saturday. He hails from Lake Orion (Mich.).

James Patterson is one of a set of twins from St. Vincent Pallotti High visiting Syracuse. James is an inside linebacker prospect with current offers from MAC schools.

Jaret Patterson is the other twin and is a running back prospect who also holds offers from MAC programs.

Reggie Pearson is a class of 2018 defensive back from Michigan. He holds several MAC offers in addition to his lone power five offer from Iowa State.

D.J. Pratt is a wide receiver from Good Counsel in Maryland. Pratt has size and speed. An offer on the trip would not be a surprise.

Austin Pyne is an offensive lineman prospect from Massachusetts. He will be visiting with his brother who is in 8th grade but already has great size. Pyne currently holds an offer from Villanova.

Haraan Ransom is a defensive back prospect who attends Don Bosco Prep, the former high school of current Syracuse safety Daivon Ellison. Ransom is excited about the trip.

J.P. Roane is a wide receiver prospect from Deptford Township in New Jersey. He is a slot type at 5-foot-11 but has big time speed at a sub 4.40 40.

Jerry Roberts is another player from Cathedral Prep. He is a linebacker prospect and is listed at 6-foot-0, 215-pounds.

Jeramie Simmons is an interesting tight end prospect. He is listed at 6-foot-5, 235-pounds with a 4.67 40-time. Those measurables suggest athleticism. Simmons has ideal size for the tight end position and an offer would not be surprising during the visit.

Arik Smith attends the same school that four-star quarterback Kasim Hill will play for this fall. Hill visited last Saturday and now Smith will get his turn to check out the Orange.

Fredrick Scruggs is a 6-foot-3, 265-pound offensive tackle prospect from Cathedral Prep in Erie (Penn.). He visits Syracuse with several teammates on Saturday.

Ryan Solt is an interior offensive line prospect from Pennsylvania. He holds power five offers from Maryland and Rutgers.

You can't teach size, and Qadir White certainly has that at 6-foot-7, 300-pounds. An intriguing offensive tackle prospect, White is one of several from Cardinal Hayes High visiting.

Another player from Timber Creek High in New Jersey, Dante Witcher is a 5-foot-11 cornerback who will check out the Orange.
