Syracuse On Top For DeCavilon Reese

Three-star running back DeCavilon Reese recaps visit to Syracuse where he picked up an offer.

Three-star Cleveland (Ohio) Benedictine running back Decavilon Reese entered Saturday's visit to Syracuse without an offer from the Orange. That changed during the trip, however.

"Head coach Dino Babers offered me," Reese said. "He says because he likes the way I run hard and fast. I'm still excited that I've received this offer. It's a great step forward towards my goals."

Reese was so excited about the offer he put Syracuse on top after the visit. The trip sparked his interest "higher than ever." There were several reasons why he has such high regard for the Orange. One was the state of the art facilities, which he said he loved.

"Everything is new," Reese said. "Everything has their signature 'Cuse colors and emblems and just pops to the eye."

Reese's interest goes well beyond that, however. The trip overall made a huge impact.

"It was great," he said. "The visit went smooth. I got my relationships with the coaches off of the ground, which is great. I got to meet the head coach and the running back coach Mike Hart. We got to visit a nice basketball game and chat more with coach Hart.

"The best part was seeing coach Kaufman get destroyed in ping pong by a highschool QB. He lost to the Cathedral Prep QB (Joseph Mischler). His reaction was that he hased a wooden paddle."

The basketball game gave Reese a chance to see what a game day atmosphere is like inside the Carrier Dome. He came away impressed by the Orange fan base.

"One word to describe it is LOUD," he said. "The atmosphere was great. Everyone was having a good time. They are die hard fans."

Reese, with the Orange on top, is looking forward to continuing being recruited by Syracuse and hopes to return for another visit soon.
