Nasir Darnell puts Orange in top 5 after visit

Nasir Darnell enjoys Syracuse visit. More inside:

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Class of 2017 defensive end Nasir Darnell visited Syracuse yesterday for junior day. When he arrived he didn't know what to think, but when he left very impressed.

"The visit was good. I really enjoyed myself and the campus. It was great," he told CuseNation.com.

Darnell noted the football facilities were incredible, and he was really impressed.

"Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to go to the game. It was a five hour ride home so we tried to leave before hitting traffic," Darnell said via text message.

Nasir, a native of New Jersey, made the trip in one day, like most of the prospects on campus.

"I was able to talk with coach Reynolds. He said that they got a chance to watch my film. The staff thinks I have great size and knew how to play defense the right way."

Syracuse is recruiting Darnell as a defensive end.

"They seemed pretty interested, but I didn't receive an offer. Syracuse is in my top 5 behind Harvard, UPenn, Columbia and Princeton."

He noted he was unsure if he would return for camp.
