NCAA Tournament Chair Discusses Syracuse, Boeheim

The chair of the NCAA Tournament committee, Joe Castiglione, discussed Syracuse on Mike and Mike on ESPN Radio.

After Syracuse lost to Pittsburgh in the ACC Tournament on Wednesday, the Orange's NCAA Tournament fate was very much in doubt. In an appearance on the Mike and Mike radio program on ESPN Radio the NCAA Tournament Chair, Joe Castiglione, discussed Syracuse and the impact of head coach Jim Boeheim's suspension.

"We take it into consideration just like a team missing a player," Castiglione said. "We discuss that and it is a factor. We consider that without prejudice."

He added that the committee will not project how a team might have performed if the coach or player had been there, but rather uses that to provide context for the outcomes of those games in order to have a "meaningful discussion" when comparing them to other teams.

As a side note, ESPN Bracketologist Joe Lunardi said on the same program that he has Syracuse after stating Wednesday afternoon and evening that he had the Orange as his last team in.

"I have them out and they're going to stay out," Lunardi said. "This whole Boeheim thing is overblown."

Syracuse will find out whether or not they make the tournament on Sunday. You can view their updated resume HERE.
