Report: Syracuse will play Monmouth next season

Report: Syracuse will play Monmouth next season.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Late Sunday evening, Ryan Restivo from NYC Buckets reported that Syracuse and Monmouth will play a non-conference game next season, potentially at the Barclays Center, but likely at the Carrier Dome.

"Monmouth will be part of a Barclays Center event next season which gives them games against South Carolina and Syracuse," Restivo wrote when discussing the Hawks' strength of schedule next season.

Monmouth was left out of the 2016 NCAA Tournament after posting a 27-7 record overall, 17-3 in the MAAC. The Hawks lost to Iona in the MAAC Championship game on March 7.

A Syracuse basketball spokesman could not confirm the report, but said SU will begin looking at next year's schedule after the NCAA Tournament.
