SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Late last night, ESPN's Jeff Goodman reported Michigan grad transfer Spike Albrecht had listed Syracuse as a possible 5th-year destination. CuseNation.com caught up with Albrecht who discussed his recruitment.
Wichita State, Purdue, Indiana, Texas A&M, USC and Milwaukee are among the other schools on the list, according to Goodman.
"I spoke with coach Hopkins last week," he told CuseNation.com.
What made him interested in Syracuse? "They win year in and year out," he said. "There's been guys similar to me that have had a lot of success there in the past."
Spike reiterated that coach Hopkins reached out to him initially, but the interest is mutual.
"He said they are waiting for a few things to shake out with the team and that he needed to speak with coach Boeheim first [before an offer or visit is set]," he said on Tuesday night.
Spike also mentioned he met with Wichita State on Tuesday and plans to visit Purdue tomorrow. Other than that, nothing is set.
"I didn't want to create any hostility," he laughed when asked if he mentioned the 2013 Final Four to Hopkins.
