SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Michael Gbinije and Malachi Richardson are heading to Chicago on May 11 for the NBA Combine, according to multiple reports. Adam Zagoria first reported the Richardson news, while ESPN's Jeff Goodman reported Gbinije's invitation.
After a successful freshman season, including an impressive NCAA Tournament run, Richardson declared for the NBA Draft without representation on April 18. He averaged 13.4 points for the Orange, and scored 21 second-half points against Virginia to give the Orange its second Final Four berth in four years.
Gbinije, a 5th-year graduate student, led Syracuse with 17.5 points per game this season. He scored a season-high 34 points on senior day against North Carolina State at the Carrier Dome.
As of right now, Draft Express has Richardson going undrafted, while Gbinije is projected to go 55th overall to the New Jersey Nets, where he would join former teammate Chris McCullough.
The NBA Combine will take place on May 11-15 in Chicago at the United Center. Malachi will have the decision to make on whether he wants to pursue his NBA dream, or return for his sophomore season. That deadline is May 25.
