Syracuse quarterback commit Tommy DeVito has made a name for himself on the camp circuit. He won The Opening NY/NJ Regional quarterback MVP, earned an Elite 11 finals invite ano was chosen as one of the Elite 11 during those finals. All the while, he was a two-star prospect.
After his performance in the regional camp, and solidified in Los Angeles at the Elite 11 finals, DeVito has been bumped up to a three-star quarterback in Scout's latest rankings update. He is now the 45th best quarterback in the 2017 class and 5th best in the East region.
Scout's National Recruiting Analyst Brian Dohn breaks down the 6-foot-2 quarterback in his profile evaluation.
"DeVito developed into a Power 5 quarterback during his junior season. He is comfortable in the pocket and he is patient. He is able to get through progressions and he keeps his eyes down the field, and as he gains more experience, he will be a tad quicker in making throws to the his second and third options.
"DeVito has a good feel in the pocket and moves his feet well as feels pressure. He can tuck the ball and run, but that is not his forte. His arm strength is good, and he is accurate in throwing intermediate and deep passes. He can throw the 15-yard out with zip."
