One performer during Sunday's Syracuse camp that caught the attention of the Orange staff was Washington (D.C.) Friendship Academy wideout Nykeim Johnson. Johnson ran well showing off his speed and got open multiple times during one-on-ones.
His performance was so impressive to the staff that they offered him on Monday.
One day later, and Johnson is the newest member of Syracuse's 2017 class. He joins Sharod Johnson as wide receivers in the class.
"I was shocked when they offered," Nykeim Johnson said. "It was an amazing feeling."
Johnson chose Syracuse over offers from Army, Bowling Green, Hawaii, Navy, Virginia and several FCS schools. He is listed at 5-foot-9, 170 pounds. Johnson ran a 4.42 verified 40-time at The Opening regional in Washington (D.C.).
