Syracuse showing interest in 2017 point guard Jose Alvarado

Syracuse is showing interest in class of 2017 point guard Jose Alvarado. Details inside:

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Early Monday morning, Syracuse reached out to class of 2017 prospect Jose Alvarado. He's a 6-foot, 160-pound point guard for Christ The King Regional HS (NY), and plays his summer ball for the NY RENS on the EYBL circuit.

Alvarado holds offers from Miami, VCU, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Rutgers, Seton Hall, SMU, St. John's and Xavier, among others.

"He's a winner," one NY RENS assistant told me. "He's tough, crafty, loves to get in the paint and loves contact. He sees the court extremely well, but needs to work on his jumper. He doesn't back down from anyone. The kid is a winner."

"Coach Gerry Mac called earlier today," Alvarado told CuseNation.com. "He talked about how they love my game and they are going to be around."

"If I get an offer, I definitely would be thinking about taking a visit," he said.

"My recruitment is pretty wide open right now. Hopefully I get the offer."
