Syracuse senior wide receiver was named to the Paul Hornung Award Preseason Watch List. Details inside.

One of the more dynamic players on the Syracuse roster entering the 2016 season is senior wide receiver/kick returner Brisly Estime. On Friday, Estime received some preseason recognition.

Estime was one of 43 players named to the 2016 Paul Hornung Award Preseason Watch List by the Louisville Sports Commission. The award is given to the most versatile player at the FBS level and is named after 1956 Heisman Trophy winner Paul Hornung who starred at Notre Dame. Though his Heisman Trophy should have gone to Syracuse legend Jim Brown that year, but did not due for race related reasons.

The list also includes last season's winner, Christian McCaffrey of Stanford.

Estime finished second nationally last season in punt return average at 18.1 yards per return. He also tied for second in the country with two punt return touchdowns. The speedy playmaker was a 2015 All-ACC Third Team selection.

As a junior, Estime led Syracuse in yards per reception at 17.2, and his 89-yard touchdown catch against Wake Forest was the third longest pass play in Orange history. It also tied for the longest such play in the ACC last season.

The Hornung watch list was compiled by a panel of college football experts based on statistics, career performance, SID recommendations and 2016 expectations. The winner will be honored at a banquet in Louisville in February 2017.
