The 2018 class is filled with talented basketball prospects. One of the players in the discussion for the top overall recruit is five-star Westtown (Penn.) High small forward Cameron Reddish. Reddish is a 6-foot-6 wing with a dynamic, versatile offensive game.
That is why he has picked up early offers from the likes of Villanova, Duke, UConn and others.
Despite not having an offer prior to that, Reddish had visited Syracuse multiple times, including for Orange Madness in 2014 and 2015. He will not be on campus in August for their Elite Camp, but does plan on visiting for a game this season.
Now that Reddish has an offer in hand, Syracuse remains one of his top options.
"Still a top five school (for me)," he said. "(Syracuse) fits my style of play. (It's a) great atmosphere and I have a good relationship with the coaches."
The five-star forward says he speaks with McNamara "pretty often." The two have gotten to know each other quite well during his recruitment thus far. It's a relationship that has Syracuse in a good spot for him going forward.
"He says there's nothing like it," Reddish said. "And that they love me. That I'll have the entire (Carrier) Dome rocking."
While Syracuse sits as one of Reddish's top five options at this point, he declined to name the other schools that make up that list. One can assume, however, that Villanova and Duke are among that group.
With Syracuse in good standing, can Orange fans hope for an early decision from Reddish with a shot he gives SU an early pledge? Not so fast.
While Reddish says he does not have a concrete timeframe, he is looking at waiting until around Peach Jam 2017 before committing. That, however, is flexible as a lot will depend on discussions with his family.
Expect the Orange to stay heavily involved with Reddish's recruitment going forward. He is one of their top targets in the 2018 class.
