DT Curtis Harper Commits to Syracuse

Syracuse has landed a commitment from Keystone State defensive tackle Curtis Harper.

McKeesport (Pa.) High defensive tackle Curtis Harper announced his commitment to Syracuse on Monday. Harper actually committed on Friday, but waited until Monday to announce it publicly.

Harper becomes Syracuse's first defensive tackle in the 2017 class as well as the first player from Pennsylvania this cycle. The 6-foot-2 defensive lineman also held offers from Boston College, Colorado State, UConn, Iowa State, Maryland, Temple, Wake Forest and several others.

Harper measured in at 6-foot-2, 302-pounds at The Opening Columbus regional. He is viewed as an athletic interior lineman with quickness, strength, and who uses his hands well. Harper has solid body control and continues to improve his pad level.

In addition, he has a knack for getting into the backfield and being disruptive against the run and pass. That should serve him well in the Tampa 2 defensive system.

The McKeesport High standout visited Syracuse back in May and has maintained contact with the Orange staff ever since.
