Syracuse makes top 10 for 2017 four-star Matt Coleman

Class of 2017 point guard Matt Coleman announces his top 10. Details inside:

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Class of 2017 point guard Matt Coleman announced his top 10 schools on Monday evening.

Syracuse, Virginia, Seton Hall, Texas, Stanford, Washington, Arizona, Xavier, Louisville and NC State all made Coleman's list.

"Coach Autry reaches out every other day," he told a few weeks ago. "They haven't officially offered yet. They will though."

"They fit my style and I'd be playing in the ACC," is just a few reasons why he likes the Orange.

The Oak Hill Academy (VA) product is planning to visit Syracuse, too. If he can get up to New York in the summer, it'll be an unofficial visit. But if he can't get to SU before his senior year begins, he'll likely take an official visit, he said. Nothing has been finalized, but that's the plan as of now.

"I'm a high energy guy on defense," Coleman said. "I'm great in transition and my pull-up jumper is my bread and butter. I'm a leader, I'm vocal and I'm unselfish."

One thing he'd like to improve on before the next level is getting his jumper more consistent, but more specifically working on his range. That's not to say Matt isn't a good shooter, because he is. But working on his range will only add another element to his already impressive skill-set.

Coach Autry's pitch to Coleman is simple: Syracuse develops its guards at an elite level.

"His last message he sent me, he said, 'Nobody has the track record we have. It's about playing early and for a point guard having weapons...we will have that.'"
