Pierre Waiting for NCAA Clearance, Moore Admittance into SU

Two incoming Syracuse defensive backs are still waiting for clearance from the NCAA.

Syracuse football kicked off the 2016 season on Friday with media day. Head coach Dino Babers spoke to the media about a variety of topics previewing the season.

During that time, he provided an update on the status of incoming freshman James Pierre and junior college transfer Michael Moore. Babers said both are still waiting for clearance from the NCAA. Syracuse Athletics later clarified that Pierre is waiting clearance from the NCAA, while Moore is waiting for admittance into SU.

The NCAA is notorious for taking their time with eligibility/academic issues. Often times impacting players' ability to practice and officially join a program. Essentially, they make no efforts to expedite a process in order to benefit the student-athletes they are supposed to be protecting.

Sources indicated previously that both were expected to be on campus prior to the start camp. That is still the case, as Pierre is in the student directory while Moore told he was arriving Friday. However, they still need clearance from the NCAA before they can practice.

It is unclear whether the situation with Pierre and Moore will turn into that. Keep it with for the latest on the status of both Pierre and Moore.
