It may have been a bye week on the schedule, but the Syracuse Orange football staff did anything but rest. The coaches hit the recruiting trail hard, traveling all over the country to watch committed players, watch current targets and discover new ones. While they could not meet with the prospects directly, but they could speak with their coaches and watch practices or games.

The Syracuse coaches certainly found their way all over the country during the bye week. Assistant Nick Monroe was in Florida checking out a variety of schools including Miramar High, Booker T, Mater Academy and several others. In fact, he watched Booker T Washington's game Friday evening. Syracuse wide receiver commit Sharod Johnson plays there. He also checked out 2018 wide receiver Zahir Turner.
Running backs coach Mike Hart spent time all over the country, including in Michigan to see commit Allen Stritzinger. He also traveled to Florida to watch running backs Markenzy Pierre and B.J. Daniels.
Syracuse also had coaches in Canada to see commits Tyrell Richards and Patrick Davis. They also traveled to Ohio to watch commit Kadeem Trotter and 2018 targets Tyreke Smith, Chris Julian and Tyler Leroux, among others. While in the Midwest, they checked out prospects in Illinois as well.
In addition, the junior college ranks were hit hard by the Syracuse coaches. One of the top guys they saw is former Syracuse signee Marquise Blair. The Orange continue to recruit him and are in the mix for his services.
The following prospects were offered by Syracuse as a result of their bye week travels.
As a result of their recruiting efforts during the bye, Syracuse was able to land two running back commitments. Both hail from Florida. One is three-star B.J. Daniels. He was considered a South Florida lean before the Orange offered and made a big push. He has yet to visit, but is planning a January official.
Markenzy Pierre committed as well, flipping his pledge from Western Kentucky. He also has not visited the Orange campus, but is looking to set up a trip soon. His senior film impressed running backs coach Mike Hart. When Hart went down to see him practice in person, an offer was extended. Days later, he committed.
