Bubble Watch: Saturday Results, Sunday Games

How Saturday's bubble results impact Syracuse's NCAA Tournament hopes, and which games to watch on Sunday.

Kentucky 79 Alabama 74

This one was in doubt throughout, but Kentucky pulled away late. This prevents Alabama from stealing a bid in the SEC title game on Sunday. A good result for Syracuse.

Rhode Island 84 Davidson 60

A Davidson win would have put Rhode Island on the outside looking in for the NCAA Tournament bubble. However, the Rams were able to get a convincing win. The good news for Syracuse is that this victory does not bolster Rhode Island's resume as Davidson is not a great team.

SMU 70 UCF 59

SMU keeps Central Florida out of the American title game, preventing a potential bid stealer.

Arkansas 76 Vanderbilt 62

The Razorbacks are well into the field, so knocking off Vanderbilt helps Syracuse. That gives Vandy 15 losses (more than any at-large team has ever had), and now the quality wins can come back up as a discussion. But Vandy's three wins over Florida may have them in regardless.

Cincinnati 81 UConn 71

UConn needed to win the conference tournament in order to make the Big Dance. Cincinnati eliminated the Huskies to prevent them from stealing a bid.

Middle Tennessee 83 Marshall 72

Capping off a very good day for Syracuse's bubble hopes, Middle Tennessee wins their conference tournament to receive the automatic bid. They were in anyway with an impressive record, so this helps Syracuse.

VCU vs Rhode Island

The Rams have added two wins to their resume in the Atlantic-10 tournament, but neither bolster it all that much. A win over VCU would earn them the A-10 automatic bid. That may be necessary for them to make the NCAA Tournament as the Rams have just two top 50 wins. Fifteen of their wins are against teams below the RPI top 100. A VCU win would help Syracuse as it makes Rhode Island part of the bubble discussion as opposed to grabbing a guaranteed spot.
