Syracuse has added a marquee game to its 2017-18 basketball schedule. The Orange will face Kansas on December 2nd as part of the Hoophall Miami Invitational, Syracuse Athletics announced. The other matchup as part of the double header features Miami against Princeton.
"We are excited to participate in the 2017 Hoophall Miami Invitational," head coach Jim Boeheim said in a release. "The opportunity to play a quality program like Kansas in Miami will be as strong a test as we could hope for our team."
As part of the event, both Syracuse and Kansas will host Oakland, Toledo and Texas Southern at their regular home arenas.
"We are looking forward to playing in the Hoophall Invitational and taking our team to Miami next season," Kansas head coach Bill Self said. "Year-in and year-out, Syracuse has been one of the best programs in the nation. Playing Syracuse in an NBA arena will be great exposure for our program."
The Orange and Jayhawks have met five times in their history, with Syracuse holding a 3-2 series advantage. Syracuse won the most recent matchup, an 89-81 Orange victory in 2008 in the CBE Classic championship game. The most notable game in the series was the 2003 National Championship, which Syracuse won 81-78.
ESPN will televise the doubleheader in Miami.
