One of the top outside linebacker/defensive end prospects in the talent-rich state of Florida is three-star Patrick Joyner out of South Dade Senior High. Joyner has seen his recruitment pick up in recent months, adding offers from the likes of Florida State, Illinois and Oregon State among others.
A school that has been pursuing longer than most is Syracuse. The Orange's recruiting efforts are led by Nick Monroe, who has developed a strong relationship with the talented South Dade standout.
"He seems like a great coach," Joyner said. "We talk on the phone everyday. Literally."
Joyner says those conversations center around different topics, but largely how much the Syracuse program needs him and loves him. That has gone a long way regarding his interest in the program.
The three-star prospect says he is still wide open, but puts the Orange in his top five.
Syracuse is also telling Joyner that he is the top defensive end on their board and that he is a perfect fit for their system.
Joyner has visited Syracuse previously, and was looking at a potential return trip for the spring game on April 22nd. He says, however, he will be unable to make it. Joyner adds he does not have any other visits currently scheduled.
