Despite not holding an offer, Fort Myers (Fla.) High linebacker Jordan Weatherbee made the trek up north to visit Syracuse for their Spring Showcase on Saturday. In a game that featured strong play from the defense, Weatherbee took notice of that unit.
"The D was crazy," he said. "I loved it seeing that they had like six takeaways. Loving the defense and how they play."
Weatherbee spent time speaking with the Syracuse coaches in addition to checking out the game. He continues to develop a strong bond with the staff and is looking forward to that continuing.
"They loved me and my film," Weatherbee said. "They think I would be good for them and they like my size. They told me they are going to (offer) in the spring when they come down."
Overall, the visit went very well for Weatherbee, who remains high on the Orange. He will remain in constant communication with the coaching staff and see where things go in the future. But the visit certainly helped Syracuse's standing should an offer be extended down the road.
"The visit was way better than I expected," Weatherbee said. "My interest definitely flew up from this. It was an amazing place. After today, I think coming up from Florida showing I have real interest, (I'm) assured my offer coming in spring."
Weatherbee currently holds no offers, but is receiving interest from Florida Atlantic, Oregon, UCF and Washington State in addition to Syracuse.
