Washington (D.C.) Woodson linebacker Juan Wallace announced his commitment to Syracuse Thursday evening. He picked the Orange over Duke, Maryland, Rutgers and West Virginia who rounded out his top five. Wallace held additional offers from Iowa State, Kentucky and Wisconsin, among others.
Wallace visited Syracuse twice this spring, once in March and once in April. He raved about the Orange program and coaches after each trip. After checking out some other schools and mulling over his options, the 6-foot-1 linebacker decided Syracuse was his future home.
Despite being listed as an outside linebacker on Scout, Syracuse is bringing Wallace in as an inside backer. He is the second linebacker in Syracuse's 2018 class and 6th prospect overall.
Woodson High has been a school of focus for Syracuse in 2018. They have offered six players from that school, and Wallace will certainly help Syracuse's efforts there.
Wallace is rated a three-star linebacker and ranked as the 47th best player overall at his position, eighth best in the East region and holds the top spot in Washington (D.C.). He represents a big recruiting win for the Orange.
